Description
Penclawdd Canal was built 1811-14. There is a sea dock at 5524 9606 (NPRN 34480), and two locks at 593 966 (NPRN 91418) and 601 965. The canal was used for about four years and was converted into a railway in 1867. An Admiralty Chart dating to 1839 shows the jetty in the seadock and the locks. The anchorage for vessels waiting to load/unload was upstream.
