Description
A former woollen mill (nprn 40839), the building was adapted for use as a creamery in about 1930 by the addition of a red brick building with a concrete loading platform or deck. The concern was known as Tivyside Creameries and milk was collected mainly for butter making.
(Howell E J, The Land of Britain, part 40: Cardiganshire, 1946)
The creamery was bought by the Milk Marketing Board in 1944.
There are photographs of the building in a privately-owned album of photographs and documents in a scrapbook produced by P. F. Carter to provide a record of the development of the milk industry in West Wales 1928-1961 on page 130; see also People's Collection Wales www.peoplescollection.wales/items/491844.
