2. A stone circle excavated in 1940 and shown to have consisted of 27 stones, of which 14 remained in 1976, at most 0.6m high, and forming a circle 17.5m in diameter. Three natural boulders were incorporated in the circle and a posthole was located within it. A central pit may have been modern, however ancient parallels are noted.
c.25m to the W is a substancial cairn (Nprn305045).

4. High on a ridge in the central Epynt is an Early Bronze Age stone circle dating from around 2500 BC. The circle was excavated in 1940 by Gerald Dunning as the firing range was established, and consisted of 27 low stones in a circle measuring 17.5m across. This circle would have provided a focus for rituals and ceremonies for the Bronze Age farming communities living nearby.
