Ebenezer Baptist Chapel was built in 1892 in the Gothic style of the long-wall entry type. In 1976 the chapel was converted for use as a sikh temple.
RCAHMW, June 2010.
Externally the chapel is little altered apart from the saffron Sikh flag fixed to the street front. An inscription over the central doorway reads: 'THE SIKH GURDWARA' and has 'Khanda' crossed-swords symbol carved into the keystone with the date 1979 above. Internally the gallery space has been extended creating two floors with the ground floor used as the 'langar' hall for hospitality and the upper floor used as the main prayer hall or temple. See the case-study in RCAHMW's From Migration to Resilience (2024).
