Clare Gardens Methodist Chapel was built in 1887 by architects Herbershon, Pite and Fawkner of Newport. The chapel was then rebuilt in 1897 in the Gothic style of the gable entry type, by architect Edgar George Down of Cardiff.

Clare Gardens Methodist Chapel was built in 1887 by architects Herbershon, Pite and Fawkner of Newport. The chapel was then rebuilt in 1897 in the Gothic style of the gable entry type, by architect Edgar George Down of Cardiff. Chapel closed and adapted as a mosque. Exterior little altered. Signage in English/Bengali flanked by architectural mosque symbols below principal West window: Jalalia Mosque & Islamic Education Centre. 'Jalalia Mosque' incorporated in the ironwork over two gateways.
