Description
Penyffordd Signal Box stands at the platform end adjacent to the running lines at Penyffordd Station ("Pen-y-ffordd Station" according to Ordnance Survey digital mapping of 2015). It is a British Railways (London Midland Region) type 15 design, built in 1972 and contains its original frame with 25 levers. With its brick-built locking room timber superstructure to the operating floor and flat roof, Penyffordd Box is the only BR (LMR) representative in Wales. It superseded an earlier signal box (nprn 421955) which stood immediately to the north.
