Description

An earlier nineteenth century cottage possibly built to house the caretaker of Paxton's Tower (NPRN 32666). It is shown as 'Towerhill Farm' on the 1st edition OS County series (Carmarthen. XL.8 1888) and as 'Tower Lodge' on the 2nd edition of 1906. It has now been modernised and extended and is a Landmark Trust property.
The cottage has painted stone rubble walls under a slate gabled roof with end chimney stacks. It faces south-west where there is a central doorway with a small window to either side.
The lodge shown here on the 1st edition OS 1" map of 1831 was propably replaced by the present cottage. It may have been a more picturesque structure corresponding to the circular lodge at the far end of the tower enclosure.
