The two basins are busy with boats taking away coal, bricks and iron products and bringing limestone and general trade. Roads and horse-worked tramroads connect the canal to the surrounding area. Buildings around the wharves include the boatyard opposite the junction with the Llangollen branch, a warehouse, houses for canal workers and Scotch Hall. The pier on the right extends the space for loading, as does a narrow dock next to it, the width of a single boat."
