Description
Carmarthen Bay Power station was built on the north shore of the Burry estuary in 1947. Power was first generated on the 28th June 1953. At this time the plant employed around 500 people. The power station ceased generating power in 1984.

During the 1980s and 1990 the most developed Musgrove vertical axis wind turbine system, along with three other commercial turbine designs was tested at Carmarthen Bay as part of a national wind power test programme. The station was demolished in 1991/1992.
