The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Newport Road was built as part of the development of Cwmbran New Town. The LDS requested a site in the area by 1964 with the church built soon after. The style is typical of that used by the LDS at this time, being an asymmetrical gable fronted, brick building with distinctive diamond patterning in cast concerete to the facade and a detatched 'spire'.
