The castle mound is located on the north side of Malthouse Road and rests on the steep slopes above the Afon Lwyd. It is an oval mound measuring about 36m east by west by 24m and is 4.7m high; its top measures 19m by 12m. The mound is ditched and counterscarped elsewhere, and is overgrown with trees.
