St Therese of Lisieux Catholic church, Port Talbot was opened in 1971 after the building of the Sandfields estate which housed the families of the workers at the newly-opened Abbey steelworks.

The church is typical of its period and based on the new reformed liturgy. Designed by F. R. Bates, Son & Price in 1969 to a semi-circle plan, it has a lobe-shaped sanctuary in green marble and reinforced concrete folded vaults slayed out from the sanctuary to express the unity of the congregation.
