Disgrifiad
The village of Llangathen is situated approximately three miles west of Llandeilo. Perhaps the village is best known for being the home of Aberglasney house (NPRN 17068) and gardens (NPRN 266159). Llangathen also has a church dedicated to St. Cathen (NPRN 96048) and a 'Tudor-Gothic style village hall which was built as a temperance hall in 1906 by Mrs Mayhew of Aberglasney (NPRN 310125),' but the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel (NPRN 6513) has now closed. It seems that the temperance hall may have replaced a public house called the Three Compasses, which is shown in the centre of the village on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1887 and 1906 respectively.
