A 16th and 17th c. mansion, with an 'L'-shaped block, c.22m N-S by 32m, of two storeys with attics, faces on to a forecourt with an W-facing gatehouse.
Remains of extensive gardens are found about the house (Nprn301557).
The house has been extensively restored, although there are doubts as to the completion of this program (Nprn54507).

Van Mansion was built by Edward Lewis and is surrounded by a walled park of 850 acres. It is said to have been built using stone from the ruins of Caerphilly Castle. It was occupied up until the 1960's but then fell into ruin until it was renovated in the 1990's.
