Disgrifiad o´r Safle Penarth Feeder Weir, set across the River Severn, was designed as a water feeder for the Montgomeryshire Canal (nprn 408723) and was probably built in timber around 1815. It is believed to have been washed away in the 1850s and replaced by the present masonry structure in about 1870, incorporating a fish pass or ladder, which was by then was a legal requirement. The weir comprises two gracefully curved sandstone weirs with the fish pass on the canal or western side. There is currently a proposal to install a hydro-electric scheme in the fish pass.
