Disgrifiad o´r Safle Cofeb o 1963 i Ernest Burton, Pennaeth y Romani, a fu’n bridio ceffylau ac yn prynu a gwerthu ceffylau a gwartheg yn yr ardal, a godwyd gan ei fab, Uriah Burton (‘Hughie’ neu ‘Big Just’), ymladdwr dyrnau noeth ac arweinydd Romani enwog. Mae’r heneb tua 3.7m o ran uchder ac wedi’i hadeiladu o dri bloc enfawr o wenithfaen o Ddyfnaint yn pwyso, o’r brig i’r gwaelod, rhyw ddeuddeg a hanner, deg a phum tunnell. Mae wedi’i hamgylchynu gan reilins haearn.

Rhoddodd y tirfeddiannwr ganiatâd i godi’r heneb ar ei dir, ond oherwydd y fanyleb a bennwyd a’r tir garw, teimlai’r contractwyr yr ymgynghorodd y teulu â hwy fod y dasg yn amhosibl. Felly cafodd ei chodi gan feibion Ernest, Uriah a Hosiah (‘Oathy’) Burton, gyda chymorth perthnasau a chyfeillion o bob rhan o Brydain, llawer ohonynt dan orfodaeth mae’n debyg. Yn ôl yr hanes, roedd llawer o’r dynion a oedd wedi addo y byddent yn helpu gyda’r gwaith adeiladu wedi methu â chyrraedd mewn pryd ac aeth Uriah a Hosiah i’w nôl yn groes i’w hewyllys. Cadarnheir y stori hon i raddau helaeth mewn erthygl a gyhoeddwyd yn The People ym mis Tachwedd 1963. Roedd y gwaith adeiladu ei hun yr un mor drafferthus gan i lori a roddwyd ar fenthyg i’r brodyr gan Arthur Hepworth o Norton, ger Doncaster, bron â throi drosodd wrth gludo’r cerrig a chyfarpar i fyny’r trac serth a garw i ben y bryn.

Yn agos at frig wyneb de-orllewinol yr heneb ceir yr arysgrif ganlynol: ‘THIS MOUMENT WAS ERECTED IN REMEMBRANCE / TO / ERNEST BURTON, ROMANY CHELL / WHO WAS CREMATED AT CHORLTON-CUM-HARDY 1960 / HIS WIFE DORA WAS INTERRED 1956 / HIS WISH WAS FOR HIS ASHES TO BE SCATTERED ON THIS MOUNTAIN TOP. / THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED BY HIS SONS AND FRIENDS’.

Yn dilyn marwolaeth Uriah Burton ym 1986, rhoddwyd plac yn is i lawr ar yr wyneb de-ddwyreiniol a’r arysgrif ganlynol arno: ‘THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED / IN MEMORY OF HIS FATHER BY / URIAH BURTON, ROMANY CHELL, / Better known as HUGHIE or BIG JUST / DIED 5th NOVEMBER 1986 / HIS WISH WAS FOR HIS ASHES TO BE SPREAD ON THIS MOUNTAIN / URIAH WAS A FIGHTER FOR THE WEAK, GOOD TO THE POOR / TEACHER TO THE IGNORANT, AND A TRUE LEGEND IN HIS OWN TIME / HE WAS KNOWN AND RESPECTED BY ALL GYPSIES AND CREEDS / HE WAS NEVER BEATEN IN FISTY CUFFS FROM THE AGE OF FIVE TO SIXTY / A MAN WHO LED HIS PEOPLE INTO THE TWENTIETH CENTURY / HE WAS A GOOD HUSBAND, FATHER, AND GRANDAD / AND WAS TRULY LOVED BY ALL HIS FAMILY’.
