Peniel Methodist Chapel in Carno, was built in 1811, remodelled in 1842 and again in 1861. The chapel was then demolished in 1903 and replaced by the current chapel. This is a fine example of early twentieth century Classical design, with a gable entry plan and tall round-headed windows. It is constructed largely from snecked rock-faced stone, with ashlar dressings. It has a 3-bay pedimented gable front with a round-arched receded central bay, enclosing a tympanum with inscribed dates of foundation and building. With the exception of the tympanum and two oculi, the fenestration is all semi-circular headed, with four tall windows along the lateral elevations, a triple-headed window above the arched entrance and double headed windows flanking the 6-panelled door. The roof is of slate. The rear of the church is slate hung, and leads to an attached vestry/schoolroom, built from brick with a hipped slate roof and an end stack over a gablet. The interior of the church appears to have been designed to have had a gallery, although none is in evidence today. The building was closed as a place of worship in 2002 but is Grade 2 Listed.
