St Paul's is located on the east side of the old valley road, beyond the north end of the settlement. It was built in two stages: in 1881-2, to designs of John Norton, architect, of London, building a small and cheap church of rock-faced Pennant sandstone with yellow brick dressings, principally the plate-traceried west window facing the road; and in 1909-10 to designs of E.M.Bruce Vaughan, architect, of Cardiff who built the north aisle and extended the chancel. Stained glass includes important works by R.J.Newbery (early twentieth century) and Celtic Studios (1963).
