St David's church is located on the north side of St David Street at its junction with The Avenue. It was built in 1910-1911, originally as a Welsh language church, and is constructed of red brick under slate roofs. Its plan is cruciform and comprises nave, chancel, east and west transepts, and gabled porch on the north gable wall below a bell-cote. A hall was built adjacent to the church but has since been demolished. The vicarage is located on the opposite side of The Avenue.
A grant to build a church was initially awarded in 1876. The architect was intended to be John Pritchard of Llandaff who died in 1876.
