Built 1924-26. Designed by John Owen of Wrexham and F. A. Roberts of Mold. Inter-war Baroque style. Red brick with pale freestone dressings. Reinforced concrete construction. Slate roofs. Fine galleried auditorium with stylised classical detailing. Art-Deco corbel-pilasters. Closed in 1977 but later re-opened as a theatre (RAJ, RCAHMW, 3/10/03; based on CADW listing description).
