Melin Rhyd-y-Benllig was converted to a dwelling c1966. Built of rubblestone with a slate roof, and with two storeys and attics, it is L-shaped in plan and measures c10.4 metres x 9.9 metres. A datestone in the west gable records the building date, 1777. The mill is believed to have belonged to the Trefan estate. It was surveyed by the Royal Commission in the mid-1950s, when the positions of three pairs of millstones, driven by a waterwheel on the east side, were recorded. The conversion has added an open storage area on the north side of the former mill, under a catslide roof. A mill cottage (NPRN 24687) and drying kiln (NPRN 411331) stand close by on the north side of the road.
