Melin Synod is a mid to late-nineteenth century building with two storeys and a tall loft above. It is built into the bank, so that access to the upper storey was from the rear. The walls are of rubblestone with alternating large stone quoins, and the window and door heads have cambered arches consisting of two brick courses laid as headers. The pitched, slated roof has three modern dormer windows, presumably related to the building's conversion to a dwelling. The site retains the 16ft (4.87 metres) diameter overshot waterwheel, supplied by the Bridgend Foundry, Cardigan, on the south-east gable.
