Originally a motte and bailey castle (see nprn 307119). Entry to grounds is through two wrought iron gates, post war memorial a small garden. The paths curve round the mound with a bowling green and large flat area encircled with paths. 

There is a cottage inside the gate and a chapel on the corner. The site was purchased in 1809 by Sir Thomas Mostyn, and in 1871, the title was transferred to the Mold Local Board when the grounds became available to people of Mold as a municipal park.

A Coronation Oak was planted in 1902. 

A Gorsedd Circle was erected in 1922 for the 1923 National Eistedfodd.
