DisgrifiadAbbey Cottage is the southern claustral range of the Carmelite Friary (see NPRN 93291), thought to be the ground floor refectory with the dormitory or dorter, above. The few remaining medieval features appear to be early sixteenth century, but the main fabric may be earlier. By the later nineteenth century the building was used as a barn and cowhouse with a hayloft and granary above (Archaeologia Cambrensis 5th series IV (1887), 269-70). It was largely reconstructed in about 1947.
