Archaeological remains associated with the loss of this vessel are not confirmed as present at this location, but may possibly be in the vicinity. The hull of the HERON is reported to have been refloated and towed to Caernarfon.

Event and Historical Information:
The HERON was a sailing brig on passage from Liverpool to Malta under the command of master Cacace. The brig went onshore a mile south of Clynog on 19 March 1842, but was later refloated and towed to Caernarfon. Sources suggest that the brig was rebuilt and re-rigged as a brigantine, and then re-registered at Caernarfon as the ST HELEN.
