A shaft shown on the 1891 Ordnance Survey map and named as a trial shaft, probably associated with a level and spoil tip (NPRNs 285519 & 285518) 100m and 160m respectively to the WSW. The mouth of this rock cut shaft measures 6m east'west by 2m. When the site was visited during Upland survey in 2005, some metalwork remained in place. J.J. Hall, Trysor, 3 January 2006
