The name Hafod Wnog suggests that it has been the focus of pastoral farming activity since medieval times, but at present only modern sheds occupy the site (NPRN 285832), obscuring the pre-20th century house site (NPRN 285551). It is not known if any of the original house structure survives inside the modern complex, but a considerable amount of building rubble is piled alongside the trackway leading to the sheds and may have been derived from earlier buildings standing at the site.

A Gogerddan estate map of 1788 shows that Hafod Wnog consisted of a 7 acre field in which the house stood, and a 545 acre sheepwalk, typical of the upland holdings of the district at that time. Remnants of the earthwork boundary banks that defined these enclosures are still visible (NPRN 285726). The Machynlleth parish tithe map of 1844 shows that the property had the same extent as in 1788 and was still owned by the Pryse's of Gogerddan, and was occupied by one John Davies. R.P.
