The small mine site to the west of Bugeilyn may be the short-lived West Cyfartha Mine, which was owned by one C. Herbert Stokes between 1877 and 1882. Stokes was also the Chief Agent. He tried his hand with a number of small workings in the area, none of which appear to have brought him much success. When visited in 2006 it was found that there are possibly two levels here. The upper level (NPRN 289655) has collapsed and is blocked, and has the largest of the spoil tips (NPRN 289656) at the site. The lower level (NPRN 289611 - which may be a drainage adit) is barely open but water is still issuing from it. There was also a shallow opencut (NPRN 289612), another small spoil tip (NPRN 289613, and possibly an infilled trial shaft (NPRN 289660). Several prospecting trenches were also recorded in the immediate area. J.J. Hall, Trysor, 10 January 2007
