CARDIFF DOCKS, BUTETOWN, INNER HARBOUR AREA, SIGNAL PLATFORMS IN BAY, ST 191 743, two 'islands' constructed of timber piles (to the south of the Welsh Industrial and Maritime Museum), each supporting two railway-type signals, two on lattice-girder posts and two on timber posts surmounted by pinnacles. The floating landing stage of the steam packet harbour was in the 60-100m gap between the islands and the shore, connected by a pivoting bridge that ran between the wooden dolphins closer to the shore.
