The earliest part of St Lawrence's Church in Gumfreston is the twelfth or thirteenth century chancel. The nave possibly dates to the same period, with the south chapel adting to the fourteenth or fifteenth centuries. A tower was added in the fifteenth or sixteenth century. The 1869 restoration was carried out by Thomas Graham Jackson. Notes by A.J. Parkinson refer to a fragmentary painting of "Christ of the Trades" on the north wall of the nave.
