A tapering hexagonal trace of ramparts, 90m east-west by 95-50m, having pentagonal bastions at the angles, apparently surrounded by a glacis, rather than ditched; attached on the west is a rectilinear enclosure, about 140m across, extending to the clifflines on the west & north, having a two tier casement & open battery facing west & an apparent open battery facing north; the interior has been much altered to accommodate oil terminal facilities.
