Town wall built 1283-85, and Porth Yr Aur, originally known as West Gate, was repaired c1326. Restored and remodelled when it became home to the Royal Welsh Yacht Club in 1854. 2-storey gateway with single storey barbican on W side flanked by 2-storey round towers. Constructed mostly of limestone.
