1. Castell Carreg-Wen is a small, pear-shaped fort, overall 62m x 83m, marked on earliest 1-inch plans, was rediscovered by Ordnance Survey staff. Earthwork comprises a slight bank c.20m x 0.7m high overall, with an east facing entrance and an oblique cutting through the rampart on the south side. Strongly sited on the leading edge of a long ridge, with precipitous slopes on all but the north-east side, looking out to the south-west over the valley of the Nant Magwr.

2. RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance in December 2007 identified the denuded remains of an ancillary enclosure, lying some 200m west of the fort (NPRN 412422).
