This is an oval cairn or earthen barrow, 9.5m north-south by 7.5m & 0.7m high. It lies about 40m north-north-west of the similar Y Garnedd II (NPRN 400936) and 95m north-north-east of a well preserved kerbed cairn (NPRN 105582). All three features are likely to be prehistoric funerary monuments. They occupy a level shelf on the eastern side of the upper Rheidol valley.
