A large erect monolith some 15m south of Rug mound (NPRN 306598), a prehistoric funerary monument adapted first as a castle mount and then as a garden ornament. The stone as been regarded as the last survivor of a stone circle, however, local information has it that it marks the burial of two horses. It can be regarded as a feature of the grounds of Rug mansion (NPRN 265144).
