DisgrifiadThe earthwork at Goldcliff is a mound, or platform, 36m north-south by 16m and 1.2m high. OS County series mapping (Monmouth. XXXIV.10 1883) shows 'Chapel (site of)' upon a rectangular platform, some 22m north-west to south-east by 16m, set rather off-centre within a moat, 54m north-west to south-east by 40m overall.
A survey of 1633 notes "Chappell Field" here, and the nearby lane is 'Chapel Lane'.
Suggested as either a chapel or house site. The earthwork is scheduled as a moated house site.
