The site lies on the south side of the M4 motorway, close to a railway embankment. It is a sub-rectangular enclosure, about 98m (north-north-east by south-south-west) by 82m, defined by a bank and ditch. A roughly 20m diameter ditched mound lies at the north-east angle.
This site is of similar size and plan to Caldicot castle, about 1.0km to the south (Nprn93411), which occupies a similar setting.
