Nobel's Dynamite Works (nprn 41106) was established at this location in 1881. In 1914 it became H. M. Munitions Factory, Pembrey. Following unsuccessful attempts to sell the site in the 1920s, it was re-built in 1937 as Pembrey Royal Ordnance Factory and employed over 2,000 staff during the Second World War. The 200ha site closed in 1965 and was bought by the local council in the 1970s and turned into Pembrey Country Park. Part of the site is in use as the Pembrey Industrial Estate.
