This building, part of Penpont Manor [NPRN 16026] is situated just south of the River Usk (and Penpont Bridge [NPRN 23751] and north of the A40, 6km west of Brecon. It just west of the main building, across the courtyard, and adjacent to the Coach House (Granary) / Laundry block (NPRN 31248). It is a simplified Palladian design stone building of seven bays with a central pedimental gable block, with the end bays treated as two-storey pavilions. The original openings have stone voussoir arched heads. The stable fittings include chamfered stall-posts. The complex roof design includes principal rafters on stub-ties and vertical posts, and low tenoned collar-beams with tall king-posts and steeply angled struts supporting three tiers of through-purlins on edge. This building probably dates from the late 18th century. The stable block also includes a place for exercising horses in bad weather. A later rear lean-to addition to the building has tusk-tenoned purlins and principals on corbel-pads, probably of c.1800.
