First built in 1876 to the designs of Henry Harris in Tudor-Gothic style, but greatly enlarged by J. Coates Carter in the twentieth century. The school is of rubble constructuion, with freestone dressings, tile roof, and brick chimney stacks. The main blocks are arranged in a U-shaped group, with the halls and classrooms separated by the 2-storey central School House. The halls have gables to the road with the boys hall having a 3-light square headed window with pilasters and the girls hall having a Venetian type winow.
In 2015 at Albert Primary School, there were about 406 pupils aged three to eleven on roll. This includes around 60 pupils in the two part-time nursery classes
