Llanfyllin Town Hall was built c.1789 to replace an earlier timber building on the same site. This followed the Act of 1775, which directed that waste lands could be sold to raise funds for a new Hall. It originally comprised an upper room measuring approximately 14m by 6m, reached via an external staircase, in which all public business took place, including borough quarter and petty sessions. When not in public use, the upper room also served as a National School. Below was a covered area in which the town's weekly market took place. In 1829 an apartment was added for the use of the Constable, together with a small two roomed lock-up for prisoners.

The Hall has since been superseded by the Llanfyllin Public Institute also on Market Road.
