Pontrhydygroes is an historic mining village associated with the Lisburne metal mines that were active in the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. There is a new monumental water wheel at Pontrhydygroes, positioned in the exact spot where a 26 foot wheel drove stamps which pulverised the ore in the 1850's. 'The Miner's Arms' public house is in village centre. An historic miner's bridge (NPRN 402268) was reinstated in 2002.
