'Vauge scooped out platforms', occurring over an area of steep north-facing slopes, about 90m east-west by 20m, are identified with drystone walled 'scooped' structures explored by Grimes in 1939; Romano-British coarse ware pottery has been reported from the island.

Sheep Island is a tidal islet set some 60m off the Castles Bay promontory complex (see Nprn305360, 276050).
