Development of station and hotel by LNWR 1876 to 1880 consisted of a hotel at the apex of inner harbour flanked by arrival (E) and departure (W) platforms. Covered by sheds with Euston type roofs. The hotel closed in 1950's and was demolished with west platform circa 1979, leaving this former arrivals platform. The west part of site subsequently redeveloped.
