The tapered circular tower, built of rubblestone and rendered, is shown as disused on the 3rd edition (1924) of the 25-inch O.S. map, and had lost its cap and three of its sails by 1929. The tower was 9.6 metres high and 5.4 metres internal diameter at ground level. In 1975 the major interior timbers were still in place, indicating floor levels at 3.14 and 6.7 metres above ground level. There had been three pairs of stones, and some of the iron hangers which supported the tentering gear were still in situ.
The tower was converted into a dwelling circa 1980, with bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, and a rectangular attached extension housing the kitchen and bathroom.
