Disgrifiad
Formerly known as Malpas House, this house probably dates from around 1825-30. It was sold to Rev Thomas Prothero in 1857, and later to Lorenzo Augustus Homfray. It was enlarged in the late 19th century by Mr Steer, but is now converted to flats.

A two storey house with the exterior roughcast rendered, with slate roofs, and generally lit by 12-pane sash windows. The entrance faces the road (West), and to each end of this front is a pedimented block with a 12-pane sash to the first floor, and a single storey, splayed bay window to the ground floor. Between these, set back, is the central block with a verandah with openwork columns, and a central double-leaf door flanked by 12-pane sashes.

The South elevation has 2 similar pedimented blocks, also with 12-pane sash windows to first floor and splayed bays to the ground floor. The block between these is set back, with a bay with a 12-pane sash to the first floor, and on ground floor, a doorway beneath a large modern porch.

To the East is an extensive block of outbuildings, while the north return is in similar style. To the east, at right angles, is a block with a deep pediment over 2 oval oculi, and which has a wooden verandah on the ground floor. At the north end is a garage/carriage shed lean-to.

A scarce surviving example in Newport of gentry house of this period, retaining much of its character.
