Situated beside the road to Cwmsymlog, this mine is situated on the Darren Lode (a rich silver-lead vein), like Darren Mine (NPRN: 33835) and the Cwm-y-Darren and Twll-y-Mwyn mines (NPRN 33826). The mine was being worked in 1742 when Lewis Morris carried out his survey of the Cardiganshire Mines. Here he noted that the ore of the vein was very rich in silver and lead, but was very mixed with hard white 'spar rider' (rib of quartz) so that it was very difficult to seperate it without the help of a stamping mill.

Unlike many of the other mines in the area it appears to have fallen into disuse not long after Morris's survey and was scarcely tried at a later date, although a later horse-whim circle and some fresher looking dumps at the site suggest some small scale revival.
