Built c.1820 the small brick icehouse is a unique example among egg shaped icehouses, as it has an opening in the dome for shooting in ice. The icehouse is situated in a small unnatural mound which has now been partly destroyed by a slurry pit. A dog-legged passage leads into a 1.5m diameter chamber which was originally c.2.5m deep. A large pond was created nearby during the Napoleonic Wars.
