Surface undulations, ponds and soilmarks revealed in ploughed fields are the only traces of widespread quarrying here, still active when mapped on the 1890 County Series map. The main quarry workings are now wooded to the north-east of the crossroads. Earthworks recorded during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance.
