Disgrifiad
Bronwydd Park, Porth, was given to Rhondda Urban District Council in 1921 by William Evans, a local philanthropist and founding director of Thomas & Evans Ltd, beverage maunfacturer (his bust is mounted in the park). The park was officially opened 1924. Prior to this, grants totalling £6,000 were received from the Miners? Welfare Fund, which was used to provide pathways and two ornate entrances, benches and a collection of specimen trees and shrubs. The park features tennis courts, a bowling green (laid in 1925), and a war memorial which was unveiled in November 1928. An open-air swimming baths were constructed in the late 1930s and subsequently converted into an indoor facility.
